March 3, 1947 – August 20, 2025
Anne Marie Valle, of Sayville, NY, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025 at the age of 78. Born March 3, 1947 in
Albany NY, she was the beloved daughter of Mary Lillian Bowen (Chase) and William J. Bowen.
As a young girl, Anne was brought to Hempstead, NY by her parents who both worked in education. Her mother, a
teacher, and father, a school guidance counselor. She graduated from Hempstead High School in 1964. She then
attended Syracuse University and Southampton College before settling into a successful career as a Courtroom
Stenographer.
Her main passion in life was her family. She gave all of herself to her children and only asked for shared time together in
return. She did everything she could so her children could have whatever they needed. Strong as a lion she was, when
her kids needed defending from the outside world, even facing down coyotes, getting sprayed by skunks, the police or
just life’s challenges as a determined single mother in her mid-20s with two young boys. She found love in her late 20s
with a wonderful man, Larry, moved to Hauppaugue, NY, and they had a 49-year marriage and were blessed with a
cherished daughter, Lauren. Then moved to Smithtown, NY in 1988 where they settled for 25 years.
One thing people will always point out about Anne is her deep abiding love for music. She always had one of her favorite
artists from The Beetles, Allman Brothers, Queen, and Bon Jovi playing no matter the time of day and would joyfully sing
along with her beautiful voice. She could name the singer, song, year and provide context of what was going on in her
life for virtually any song released in the 1960s right up until her passing.
She also had a love of dogs, especially Yorkshire Terriers. Raising Bella and later rescuing a 5 year old Yorkie named JJ
who stole their hearts, from Yorkie 911 Rescue, to which she continued to donate.
In 2000, she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease which she battled for 25 years in a courageous display of strength
and determination.
Anne had many wonderful friends and had a very special relationship of over 70 years with her dear friend Janet. She
was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend whose kindness was genuine and easily felt by others. Her memory and
spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends who are better people for having known Anne and who in turn
will spread her love to others, keeping her spirit very much alive.
Anne is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Lillian Bowen (Chase) and William J. Bowen. She is survived by her
husband Lawrence R. Valle; her children James L. Halsey IV (Jimmy), Jonathan Scott Halsey (Scott) and Lauren Valle
D’Abramo, her grandchildren Abigail LaValley, Jack Law Halsey and Colin Scott Halsey, and her brother William Bowen
(Bill).
Wake services will be held in Westhampton at the Werner-Rothwell Funeral Home from 4-8pm on Thursday August 28 th
and the funeral will be at the Calverton National Cemetery on Saturday August 30 th at 9am.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Anne’s memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
