Edward M. Gallagher

Edward M. Gallagher was born in Rockville Center, New York in June 1929 to Louise and Edward Gallagher and was raised in a suburb of Buffalo, New York. He received a BS degree in Economics from Canisius College in Buffalo New York and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Mr. Gallagher settled in Quogue in 1975 with he purchse of the home on Quogue Street.
Mr. Gallagher was a product of the era popularized by the TV show “Mad Men“. His career in the advertising agency field included positions at Compton, McCann Erickson and Ally and Gargano Advertising Inc. During Ed's tenure as Chief Operating Officer of of Ally and Gargano, the agency was named Advertising Agency of Year by Advertising Age and completed an Initial Public Offering. His major clients included Procter & Gamble, for whom he helped launch campaigns for Comet Cleanser, Ivory liquid, and Duncan Hines mixes, Richardson Merril where he launched Oil of Olay, and MCI.
Ed was predeceased by his wife Mary V Gallagher in February 2013 and daughter Virginia “Ginny “Gallagher in 1977. He is survived by his sister Louise Sill of North Carolina: sons, Michael Gallagher of Stowe, Vermont, and Kevin Gallagher of Amherst, Mass: four daughters, Susie Wolters Of Darien, Connecticut, Elizabeth Heilman Houston, Texas, Martha Segretti of Potomac, Maryland and Deirdre Williams of Truckee California. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren.
A private burial is planned at Quogue Cemetery and a memorial service will be held in the summer 2020.
