George Bloem passed away January 7th at Peconic Bay Medical Center from natural causes. He was born in 1932 in Elmhurst Queens to George Bloem and Margaret Lugossy. He graduated from the Phoenix School of Design in NYC and pursued a career in graphic design. After working for a number of firms, including Lind Brothers Printing in New York City, he went out on his own. He had a long career designing advertising as well as booklets and brochures for such companies as Max Factor, Elizabeth Arden, and General Reinsurance. He also did all the art work for Snapple’s early labels. In 1974 he married Rosemary Kirby and shortly afterward they moved from NYC to Remsenburg where they raised two children, Kristina and Gerrit. They moved to Eastport in 2014. George and his wife were long time members of the Westhampton Yacht Squadron and travelled extensively until his health wouldn’t allow it. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends and using his talents for others. He is predeceased by his parents, and his sister, Margaret. Besides his wife and children he leaves two grandchildren, Ryder and Olivia Atkinson.
