Girolama “Gerry” Sicuranza (née D’Alessandro)

Girolama “Gerry” Sicuranza (née D’Alessandro), a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, attorney, and woman of deep faith, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026, at the age of 100, shortly after celebrating her centennial birthday surrounded by those she loved.

Born in New York on March 27, 1926, Gerry was the eldest of four children born to Rosario and Giuseppina D’Alessandro. A proud first-generation Italian American, she possessed a remarkable intellect, unwavering determination, and a deep commitment to serving others. In 1950, she achieved a milestone that reflected both her courage and perseverance, becoming the only woman in her graduating law school class.

In 1956, Gerry married the love of her life, Pasquale Sicuranza. Together they began building a family until tragedy struck when Pasquale passed away in 1964. Faced with the immense challenge of raising her young family alone, Gerry drew strength from her faith and her devotion to her children. She moved her family to eastern Long Island and eventually settled in East Quogue, where she created a loving home and lasting roots.

Gerry enjoyed a distinguished legal career spanning more than 50 years as a practicing attorney. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she was deeply committed to her community and her faith. She generously volunteered at Central Suffolk Hospital, now known as Peconic Bay Medical Center, where she visited patients and brought comfort, compassion, and joy to countless individuals during difficult times. She also volunteered with Birthright, offering support and encouragement to mothers and families. In addition, Gerry was a dedicated catechist at Saint Rosalie’s Parish, where she joyfully shared her love of Jesus and her Catholic faith with generations of children.

Family was the center of Gerry’s life. She was a devoted mother to her three sons: Joseph Sicuranza (Valentina), Rosario Sicuranza (Victoria), and Pasquale Sicuranza (Kerry). She was also a loving and dedicated caregiver to her brother and mother during their health struggles, always placing the needs of others before her own.

Gerry was cherished and adored by her ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, each of whom shared a special bond with her and carries treasured memories of time spent with their grandmother. Whether through her wisdom, stories, encouragement, or unconditional love, she made every family member feel uniquely valued.

A woman of profound faith, Gerry lived her life guided by grace, resilience, compassion, and service. Her strength inspired generations, and her legacy will continue through the family she loved so dearly and the countless lives she touched throughout her century of life. Her devotion to God was evident in both her words and actions, and she found great joy in serving others through her church, community, and family.

Gerry was predeceased by her beloved husband, Pasquale Sicuranza.

She leaves behind her sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many friends who will forever remember her wisdom, kindness, generosity, and steadfast faith.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that she has been welcomed into eternal peace and reunited with her beloved husband in the presence of the Lord.
