Jane A. Busking of Westhampton Beach, died on January 4, 2025. She was 89 years old.
Jane was born on September 11, 1935. She grew up in Rosedale, New York where she met her loving husband, Robert Busking. Jane and her family moved to Westhampton Beach in the early 50’s where her father, George Cobb, started Cobb’s Luncheonette. It is presently the Post Stop Café.
Jane and Bob were married in 1954 at the Westhampton Presbyterian Church. Through 67 years of marriage they created a wonderful life together, raised their children and built a successful business. They were lifelong residents of Westhampton Beach and felt blessed to call it home.
Jane’s career in her early years was as a beautician at Petty’s Hair Salon, where she cut hair and gave permanent waves for $5. She later left Petty’s to start Westhampton Glass with her husband in 1969. They were a dynamic duo growing their business and building the first strip mall in WHB on Riverhead Road that is still operational today.
Jane also found time to stay involved in causes within her community. She was a member of the Eastern Stars and a Sunday School teacher and Deacon at the Westhampton Presbyterian Church for many years.
She was an avid golf and tennis player and a long-time member of Westhampton Country Club and The Legacy Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida. She was a fixture in the neighborhood walking five miles a day in and around the village. Jane also loved to play bridge and was a Master Bridge player.
Jane is survived by her sister, SuzAnne Jessup (Franklin); her children Bob Busking Jr. (Deborah), Bonnie Wootten (Eric) and Betsy Clarke (Bill); seven grandchildren – Heather and Hunter Wootten, Cara Corrigan (Andrew), Billy Clarke (Nina), Bobby and Emily Clarke and Blake Busking; and her great grandchildren Henry and Charlie Corrigan. She is pre-deceased by Bob, her loving husband of 67 years.
