Jane Shields Campbell, a 50-year resident of Quogue, died on September 18, 2023 at Artis Senior Living of Briarcliff Manor in Westchester County, New York, after a long illness. She was 92.
Jane was born and raised in Schenectady, New York. She graduated from Newton College of the Sacred Heart in Newton Centre, Massachusetts. She worked at Spencer Trask in Schenectady before meeting and marrying John C. Campbell, Jr.
In 1971, Gen. Campbell became commander of the 106th Rescue Wing of the New York State Air National Guard in Westhampton Beach, and relocated his family from upstate New York to Quogue.
Jane started her career in real estate in the late 1970s, and established her own business, J. Campbell Real Estate, in the early 1980s. She continued to work in real estate into her 80s, finishing her career working with Beau Hulse at Coldwell Banker.
Jane served on the Board of Trustees of East End Hospice for many years. She was a longtime member of the Quogue Field Club, the Quogue Beach Club and Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.
Jane is survived by her three children and their spouses, John (Beth), Francie (Roger) and Edward (Randi), by six grandchildren and by one great-grandson. Gen. Campbell died in 1998.
