Jean Tuttle Obituary

Jean W. Tuttle died on February 15, 2020. She was born October 4, 1926 on Brushy Neck Lane, Speonk, NY to S. Leroy and Georgianna (Robinson) Wilcox. Her father was the owner/operator of the Oceanic Duck Farm in Speonk, a naturalist and ornithologist. Her mother was a homemaker with numerous close-knit family members nearby. Much of Jean’s childhood revolved around the farm and the present Eastport Bible Church.

She graduated Salutatorian from Westhampton Beach High School in 1944 and two years later married Emory Tuttle from Eastport – a farming and church connection. Over the following years she gave birth to David, Mark, and Nathan and thus began her legacy as a faithful influencer - both at home and with her church family.

In a caring and purposeful manner, she kept the home operating efficiently. Jean also helped her husband at Lonesome Pine Duck Farm (South Bay Avenue, Eastport) for 42 years. She was creative, industrious, an avid baker, and had a keen interest in local history.

As a quiet, caring, faithful servant of God, she served many through the ministry of Eastport Bible Church by teaching Sunday School, VBS, serving as a Steward, helping with building expansion ideas, hosting Bible studies, supporting missions causes around the world, and daily praying for family and ministry.

She is survived by her three children: David (Lorin) Tuttle of Oley, Pennsylvania; Mark (Donna) Tuttle of Harleysville, Pennsylvania; and Nathan (Brenda) Tuttle of Eastport, New York. In addition, she is survived by her eight grandchildren: Brendan, Betsey, Warner, Barrett, Sarah, Jonathan, Joshua, and Benjamin, along with seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by Emory, her husband of 49 years, her brother David, and her sister Janice.

Funeral Service will be at Eastport Bible Church (386 Montauk Hwy., Eastport, NY) on Saturday, February 22 at 10:00 AM. She will be remembered as an influential role model to many in how she lived out serving God and others. Memorial contributions may be made to Eastport Bible Church’s “Bridges Project.”
