John Scarry Obituary

Obituary of John Gerald Scarry, Jr.  age 87, entered into rest Tuesday, March 22, 2022.

John, known as Jack, was born in New York City to the late John Gerald Scarry, Sr. and the late Catherine Scarry. Jack grew up on the east side of Manhattan and attended high school at LaSalle Academy on a track scholarship. After high school, Jack enlisted in the army and served in the 82nd Airborne division. Upon leaving the army, he attended St. John’s University on the GI Bill.

After college, Jack was accepted into the IBM sales training program. He had a long and successful career in computer sales management, continuing with Honeywell, GE, NCR Comten, and culminating with him running his own sales company.

Jack and his wife Linda raised their 4 children in Allendale, New Jersey, where he coached his kids' sports teams, participated in local community affairs and was a devoted husband and father. As a native New Yorker, Jack was a life-long fan of the NY Yankees, NY Jets and St. John’s basketball. Jack and Linda moved to Westhampton, NY in 2002.

Jack believed strongly in giving back to the communities where he lived and made sure to support LaSalle throughout his life, whether it be through computer donations, scholarship donations or his time. Besides his family and friends and the stock market, one of his greatest passions was making sure the young men who followed after him at LaSalle were able to continue with their education.

Jack was married to his beloved wife, Linda, for 38 years until she passed away in 2010. He is survived by his loving children, daughters Elizabeth and son-in law, Chris Batenhorst, Jane and son-in law, Vin Petrucci, Sarah Scarry, his son John Scarry, his adoring granddaughters, Maggie and Sarah Batenhorst, his sister Maureen Feltman, his brother Bill Scarry and sister-in-law Karen, his brother-in-law Steven King and wife Jo, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Kathleen Geraghty and his nephew Michael Gaudette.
The visitation will be held on Sunday, April 3rd, 2022 at the Werner-Rothwell Funeral home in Westhampton Beach, NY from 2:00pm – 6:00pm EST. Followed by a Funeral Mass on Monday, April 4th, 2022, at 11am at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Westhampton Beach, NY.
