Kelley Lewis-Venturo Obituary

Kelley Rae Lewis-Venturo, passed away December 12, 2022, after a brave battle with a chronic illness. She was 53 years old.

Kelley was born on September 11, 1969, in Worcester, Massachusetts, to Marley and Kathleen Lewis. younger sister of Shelley, two years her senior.  She moved to Bayside, Queens, when she was 16 years old, and graduated from Bayside High School in 1987.  She was always a hard worker and worked full time to put herself through college, graduating from Queens College and receiving a bachelor’s degree in 1993.

Having worked at a local State Farm Insurance office in Whitestone, Queens, during her college years, Kelley obtained insurance certifications and licenses, and as a result she was offered, and accepted, a full-time position as a claims adjuster for State Farm Insurance Company in 1994. Between 1994 and 1998, Kelley traveled around different parts of the country, most notably New Orleans, investigating and resolving claims in storm ridden areas. She quickly moved up the corporate ladder, and ultimately was awarded her own agency and proudly became a State Farm Insurance Agent in 1999.

Kelley married Robert G. Venturo, Esq, on September 22, 2001, in what many guests described as “the best wedding ever!” Sunny and 78 degrees, on a hill top, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on Block Island, Rhode Island, while surrounded by her most loved family and friends, on that very special day.

Despite her very prominent position within State Farm, Kelley retired from that company in 2002, to pursue a much more important position, that of motherhood. Clara Jane Venturo was born on January 17, 2003 and Quinlan Ray Venturo was born on October 10, 2006.

Kelley mostly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed reading, music, traveling, the beach, cats and dogs, and numerous outdoor activities like; hiking, biking, camping, skiing, snow mobiling, snow shoeing, swimming, and in more recent years; birdwatching.  She fed the birds, sheltered and nested them, and watched them. Everything about birds, she loved.  Her one-acre wooded property, became a bird sanctuary the last few years. From large Turkeys to tiny hummingbirds many varieties of birds were abound, the latter being her favorite bird.

A most angelic face, beautiful smile and overall glow. She was loved by everyone she came to know, whether a close family member, friend, or store clerk; everyone truly loved her!

Her laugh was infectious.  She was funny.  She was smart. She was very special. She was truly a kind and caring soul.

She will be sorely missed, but her spirit will be felt always, and carried by both of her beautiful children who she loved so very much.

Kelley is survived by:  her Husband, Robert, daughter Clara, son Quin, and Samoyed “Luna.”  Her sister, Shelley Tanner and niece Madeline Tanner, in Framingham, Massachusetts and her Aunt Shelley in West Virginia.
