Louise Barker Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Louise Barker announce her passing. She passed away peacefully on October 20th. Louise was born in 1930 on the Dana Estate in Quiogue. She was the youngest child of Polish immigrants that arrived through Ellis Island. Louise attended Westhampton Beach High school where she was a cheerleader and played basketball. This is where she met and fell in love with her husband, Robert Ace Barker, who preceded her in death in 1994.

She and Ace settled down in Quogue and this is where they raised all of their children. Her home was her joy. She loved to joke around and always made sure you had something to eat. She also loved the beach and shared this love of the ocean with all of her children. Louise worked for Central Suffolk Hospital for 25 years as an Intensive Care Unit nurse and then after retirement at 65, continued on as a private home nurse.

She is survived by her children Christine Faszczewski, Robert Barker, Kathy Whittington, Jean Barker, and James Barker; grandchildren Anthony Faszczewski Jr, Amanda Selph (Dan Selph), Betsy Whittington, James Barker, Luke Barker Magee, and Jessie Barker; great grandchild Caroline Selph, and brother Edwin Cartoski.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Ace Barker, her parents Eleanor and Joseph Czartosieski, her siblings Elizabeth Helen Kaminski, Joseph Sigmund Czartosieski Jr, Frances Theresa Kaufman and her son in law Anthony Michael Faszczewski.

A memorial mass will be held on December 28 at 11:00 in the Immaculate Conception Church in Quiogue, New York.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to East End Hospice, PO Box 1048, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978, would be greatly appreciated.
