Margaret Ferguson Obituary

Margaret A. Ferguson January 10, 1931 – August 16, 2025

Margaret A. (Peggy) Ferguson, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, at the age of 94.

Born on January 10, 1931, Peggy grew up in Astoria, Queens, and Point Lookout, New York, the beloved daughter of Charles J. O’Shea and Anne O’Shea (née Rauert). She was one of twelve children—Helen Hebb, Charles O’Shea Jr., Anne Cavanaugh, Maureen Boyle, Kathleen Donahue, Carol Yaeger, Patricia O’Shea, Richard O’Shea, Elizabeth Pfohl, Francis O’Shea, and Cornelia Daly—sharing a childhood filled with love, laughter, and the enduring bonds of a large family.

Peggy graduated from Dominican Academy High School and Our Lady of Good Counsel College, achievements that reflected her dedication to learning and her strong sense of purpose.

In 1954, she married Edward M. (Ted) Ferguson, DDS, and together they built a beautiful life in Massapequa, New York, while cherishing summers in Westhampton Beach.

A loving and devoted mother, Peggy raised eight children—Ellen M. (Harold) Finlayson, Edward M. (Kristy) Ferguson III, James M. (Marilyn) Ferguson, Anne Marie (Douglas) Bruno, Charles M. (Dina) Ferguson, Francis M. (Carolyn) Ferguson, Margaret R.F. (John) Warren, and John M. (Erin) Ferguson—instilling in them the values of kindness, faith, and family. She was also the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.

Peggy was a longtime member of the Westhampton Country Club and a faithful parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church. She will be remembered for her grace, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she nurtured, the love she gave so freely, and the countless lives she touched.
