Margaret Rosalie Kearns

Margaret Rosalie Kearns (Kennedy) of Westhampton Beach NY passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on February 24, 2020. Margaret was born to Anna and Howard Kennedy on July 9, 1933 in Mohawk New York. Margaret grew up in Mohawk Valley then moved as a young adult to Syracuse New York where she met her husband William. Margaret and William were married in 1958 in Syracuse. William and Margaret lived in Syracuse NY until then moved to East Quogue Long Island to raise their children in 1968 then moved to Westhampton Beach in the 1970’s.

Margaret was well-known and loved woman in the community. She served in the Ladies Guild with Immaculate Conception Church for many years, loved gardening, and loved her family boldly. During World War II Margaret worked in her Uncle Ed ice cream ice shop before and after school, doing her part to assist in the war efforts. Margaret had a few careers including, a teletype with General Electric in Syracuse in the 1950’s and 60’s, she owned and operated an antique resale business in Westhampton Beach and in East Moriches and also worked at the social service department in Riverhead aiding those in need of services through HEAP. Margaret was always known to be kind and funny, supportive to any community member in need of assistance or guidance and will be truly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children Sherman Kearns (Susan), Mary Kearns Lehman, John Kearns (Joy) & Sarah Kearns Sulzinski (Paul). Her sister Kathy Grenier, her brothers Tom and James Thomas, Grandchildren, Christina Kearns, Ryan Kearns , Erin Lehman , Gabrielle Lehman , Lee Kearns , Bret Kearns , Jamie Kearns , Kaitlyn Kearns , Marissa Kearns, two great grandchildren Arlena Lehman and Oliva Kearns.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband William Kearns in 2018 and her beloved granddaughter Katherine Lehman in 2015.

A wake is scheduled at Werner Rothwell Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach for Friday February 28, 2020 viewing times are 2-4pm & 7-9pm

A Catholic Funeral Mass service is scheduled for February 29, 2020 at 11am at the Immaculate Conception Church in Westhampton Beach NY, internment immediately following at Oakwood Cemetery in East Quogue NY.
