Mildred Ernestine Wilkinson of Quogue peacefully passed away in her sleep on January 14, 2026. She was 80. She was born on April 29, 1945 in Ahoski, NC. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity. Mildred dedicated her life to caring for her family, friends, and the loyal clients of Quogue Taxi, which she owned and operated for over 50 years. Her gentle yet sharp spirit, unwavering commitment to preparing holiday meals effortlessly, and her selfless heart will be remembered by all who knew her. On January 19, 1963 she married Frederick Wilkinson, who would later become her best friend and be lost to Covid. Together, they would raise three children.
Mildred was a huge fan of bowling and teamed with several friends for tournaments at the WHB Bowling alley during the 80’s and 90’s with the foot skip and wrist spin that was fast as lightning. She loved attending the numerous sporting events of her children and grandchildren that gave her great pride. Her favorite places to visit were Hawaii and Disney World where she loved taking her grandchildren. She always thought it was the most magical place in the world.
Mildred leaves behind her children Frederick D Wilkinson, III (Tanya), Michele D Carbone (Sandy), and Brian E Wilkinson (Kristy), five grandchildren, Frederick A Wilkinson IV, Jerry C Hart, III, Kobe Wilkinson, Jacob Wilkinson, and Keith Miles. She was also fortunate to be present for three great grandchildren, Frederick A Wilkinson, V, Domari I Wilkinson, and Sabrina Rei Hart.
A celebration of her life will be held on January 23, 2026, at Werner - Rothwell Funeral Home, 60 Mill Rd., Westhampton Beach, NY 11978 from 3:00 – 6:00. Mildred will finally rest at the Quogue Cemetery Cremation Garden in Quogue, NY 11959, where she lived for most of her years, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever live in the hearts of her loved ones.
