Robert B. Busking

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert B. Busking, 89, on January 1, 2022.  He was born on January 15th, 1932 and was a lifelong resident of Westhampton Beach.

Bob grew up in Rosedale, NY where he met his loving wife, Jane Ann Cobb. They moved to Westhampton Beach in 1954, where they were married at the Westhampton Presbyterian Church. Through 67 years of marriage, Jane was his constant companion. They created a wonderful life together and a devotion to each other that is an inspiration to us all. Over the last few years Jane was his sole caretaker, selflessly attending to his every need.

Bob proudly served his country during the Korean War as a member of the United States Navy on the Aircraft Carriers The USS Corregidor and USS Coral Sea.

He was active in his community as a longtime member of the Westhampton Beach Fire Department, serving as its Chief 1971-72,  and was also a member of the Westhampton Beach Ambulance Corp.

Bob was a true entrepreneur starting Westhampton Glass and Metal in his garage in 1969 and later moving to stores he built on Riverhead Road. His legacy was his work ethic that he instilled in his children, grandchildren, and many other lives that he touched.

He loved people and his extraverted personality enabled him to laugh and joke with strangers and loved ones everywhere he went.

He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Westhampton Country Club and The Legacy Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Bob was the loving husband of Jane Busking. The beloved father of Bob Busking Jr. (Deborah), Bonnie Wootten (Eric), and Betsy Clarke (Bill). From these children came Bob’s greatest joy… his seven grandchildren: Cara (Andrew), Blake, Heather, Hunter, Billy, Bobby, and Emily and great grandson, Henry.

A memorial visitation will take place on Saturday, January 8th, 2022 from 1-4PM with Fire Department and Military services at:
